Our therapists build relationships rooted in trust, cultural humility, and compassion. Sessions are flexible and collaborative, drawing from a range of evidence‑based and culturally adaptive modalities, including:

Family therapy at Sankofa Psychotherapy and Consultancy Group recognizes that healing happens within the context of relationships. We understand that Black, African, and Caribbean families carry unique strengths, ancestral wisdom, and intergenerational patterns — both of resilience and of trauma.

Our approach to family therapy is grounded in Afrocentric principles and culturally responsive frameworks. We honour the role of extended family, community connections, and cultural traditions that have sustained families across generations. We also recognize the impact of systemic racism, migration, displacement, and other structural forces that shape family dynamics.

We support families through:

  • Conflict resolution and repair: Creating safe spaces for honest dialogue, healing ruptures, and rebuilding trust within the family unit
  • Parent/caregiver guidance: Supporting parents and caregivers in navigating challenges while honouring their cultural values and parenting wisdom
